We will learn how to solve some problems and repair signal, why our cell phone does not have signal here I am leaving you some tips with information compiled on why it does not have it and look for alternatives to make it work. No signal or no connectivity is a big problem for cellular phones for signal repair. Users want to be able to use the most basic function of a cell phone, making calls, whenever they want. While certain areas have connectivity problems, which we can hardly do anything about, some phones start to show no signal even though the network is available. This is a phone related problem and we cannot blame the network in this case.

1.- CHECK THE COVERAGE TO REPAIR SIGNAL.

It shows that the connection works, with the indicator of ?4G? or ?H? (HDSPA) or ?3G? or similar, but it is slow. You can't even watch a video or download normally. For Wi-Fi problems we recently recommended several easy and interesting solutions, now let's try to fix your cellular connection with some tips.

Identify where the signal is strongest to repair the signal

The first thing to do is to find out the signal strength, measured in dBm (decibel-milliwatt), which is the unit used by smartphones and any similar instrument. The ?bars? are useless, they are a very coarse measure and are not proportional (?two bars? does not mean coverage twice as good as ?one bar?). The dBm value received by your phone must be negative, traditionally between -50 and -100 dBm.Above this level (-100dBm, -110dBm, -120dBm, etc.) means a less strong signal.

To see it in AndroidIn iOS, you have to go to Settings > Phone (or About) > Status > SIM (or Network). In iOS you will need to open the phone application and call the number 3001#12345#. Once that is done, the iPhone will open the field test mode and you can see the dBm in the upper left corner. When you have this information, move around the house or office slowly looking for dark places with lower signal (-100dBm, -120dBm) and other with better signal (-50 or -80dBm, for example). Try to use the cell phone from these places when the connection is not working so well.

4.- VERIFY IF THE SIM CARD IS VERY WELL PLACED TO REPAIR SIGNAL.

Resultado de imagen de CHECK IF THE SIM CARD IS VERY WELL PLACED.

  • The first thing you should do to Repair Signal is to locate the SIM of your cell phone. In phones where it is possible to remove the battery, it is usually next to the microSD memory. In the latest generation phones, where it is impossible to remove the battery, the SIM is usually located on the side inside a removable tray. It is important to turn off the phone before checking anything.
  • Once you have identified the SIM, you can now extract it. It is usually located in a metal clip. Gently lift or slide the SIM card up and out of the clip. Lately smartphones come with an accessory to make it more convenient.
  • Gently blow into the SIM slot to remove possible dirt or dust. You can use a paper napkin to dry the card if it shows signs of moisture.

What if it still doesn't work?

    1. Do a cross test: If the SIM still does not work and the phone displays one of the following three messages: "Insert SIM", "SIM error" or "SIM card rejected" you can verify that the problem is still with the SIM and not with your phone, you can cross test it. Insert it in another cell phone to see if it works correctly in that case. If it still does not work, you may need to replace it.
    2. Pay attention to the size of the SIM card:  There are different sized SIM cards to fit different phones. Make sure you have the right size card for your handset.

5.- NO SIGNAL DUE TO A BAD SOFTWARE UPDATE.

Repair Signal: The bad practice of updating our phone with versions that do not correspond to it, you may have some of these problems:

  • Interrupted calls or no mobile Internet access
  • As long as you are connected to LTEoutgoing calls take a long time to be connected
  • SMS and/or MMS services are slow or do not work at all.
  • Low signal bars

Check that the phone is fully up to date. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > About > Software updatesThe exact route may vary depending on your phone.

    These are the typical routes:

    • Settings > About > Software updates
    • Settings > System upgrades > HTC software updates
  2. Click on Check now to check for updates.
    • If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions.
    • If no update is found, confirm that the phone has the latest software version. Go to Settings > About > Software information.

6.- VERIFY THAT YOUR DEVICE IS NOT IN BLACKLIST.

IMEI Number has 15 digits, will appear on our phone's display after entering *#06# using the keypad.

Using the IMEI24.com website you can check if your phone is blacklisted in, among others: Great Britain, USA; Canada, Australia, Ireland, France, Central European countries and many more.

7.- VERIFY THAT YOUR EQUIPMENT IS UNLOCKED.

1. SIM

The first way is the most obvious and easiest of all. It is simply to change the SIM card that came with the phone to another provider's SIM card. Before changing the SIM card, it is recommended to turn off the phone and change it carefully so as not to damage either SIM card. One scratch and bye-bye SIM card.

Yes, it may be the easiest of all, but we don't always have another SIM card available at hand. If this is your case, there are other ways that we will show you below.

2. MANUFACTURER'S CODE

This option is available only if the manufacturer provides it. Not all are so kind or diligent, but if you are, it's a quick and easy way to check if your phone is unlocked.

IPHONE

  • Open "Settings" and look for the "Mobile Data" section.
  • An option called "Mobile Data Network" or "Cellular Data Network" will appear.

If this last option appears in this section, your iPhone is most likely unlocked since Mobile Data Network or Cellular Data Network is not an option that should appear if the phone is locked by the service provider.

SAMSUNG (OLDER MODELS)

  • Open the "Phone" app on your cell phone (you know, the one you open when you want to dial someone's number).
  • Type the following code: *#7465625#
  • A couple of options should appear. If the first one indicates "OFF", the mobile is unlocked. If it indicates "ON", the mobile is locked.

SONY

  • Access the Phone app.
  • Dial the following code: *#*#7378423#*#*
  • A screen with options should appear.
  • Select "Service info" and "Configuration".
  • Locate the "Rooting Status" section. If it says "Yes", the phone is unlocked. If it says "No", the phone is not unlocked.

LG

  • Go to Settings > About phone > Software information.
  • Locate the Software Version section. If the version ends in ?-EUR-XX?means that the cell phone is free.

HUAWEI

  • Open the Phone app on your device.
  • Enter the following code: *#*#2846579#*#*
  • A new menu should open.
  • Go to Project Menu > Network Settings > SIM Card lock state query.
  • If the section says "Sim card lock state NW_LOCKED", it means that your phone is not unlocked.

3. IMEI

The IMEI is a unique code for each phone. On the portal IMEI.info you will be able to enter the IMEI number of your phone to know if it is unlocked or not. By simply entering the IMEI number of your cell phone, the website will give you information about it, such as brand, model, and yes, even lock or unlock status. Best of all, it's free.

It should be noted that this method is not 100% reliable as it does not in all cases show the information whether it is unlocked or not. Anyway, it is an alternative and as I mentioned, it is free.

So, how do you find out your phone's IMEI? Follow these steps that apply to both iPhone and Android:

  • Access the Phone app on your device.
  • Copy the following code: *#06#
  • The IMEI number should automatically appear on the screen.

4. TELEPHONE PROVIDER

Repair Signal: This point you may well not have to do, but if all else has failed, you can try directly with your provider and ask them for information on whether the phone is locked or not.

Of course, you may have to play with them a little bit: give some excuse or check that you are the owner of the cell phone through security questions, etc. It may also happen that they deny you the code if your mobile is still under warranty, or that they make you go to the nearest office. In any case, in these times it is something completely doable and nothing is lost if you really need to know if your phone is locked or not.

Find out if your phone is locked and how to unlock it

IF YOUR PHONE IS LOCKED, HOW TO UNLOCK IT

If you have successfully verified that your phone is locked, and you wish to unlock or unlock it to use it with another provider, there are several alternatives to do so, but in the vast majority of cases (if not all) you have to pay. The amount may vary depending on the phone to be unlocked or unlocked.

The best thing to do is to go to a reputable technician who can unlock it. In Puerto Rico there are several companies that can do it, but as I mentioned, each one will have its price. It may not be the fastest way, but if your phone can be unlocked it is recommended.

  1. TELEPHONE COMPANY

The first thing you should do is to check that your mobile is not within the warranty period. This is to make it easier for the operator to provide you with the unlock code without too many obstacles. This information is usually in the purchase contract of the device.

Once you have checked, all you have to do is call the Customer Care number of your mobile network. Once you are connected to an operator, simply tell them that you want to unlock your handset.

It is important to have at hand the IMEI number, model of your device and any other information that may appear on the box or the contract. You may be asked some security questions, but if the line is yours, there should be no problem.

2. DOCTORSIM TO REPAIR SIGNAL

In case the Customer Care operator refuses to give you the unlock code and instructions, there is an alternative. Just follow these steps:

  • Enter the web site of DoctorSIM.
  • Select the manufacturer of your locked cell phone.
  • Enter the requested data (IMEI, number, operator, country, email, etc.).
  • Select the payment method and accept the terms and conditions.
  • Wait until you receive the unlock code.
  • Using a SIM from another operator inside your cell phone, enter the unlock code and press "OK".

3. APPLICATIONS

If none of the above alternatives is an option for you, there are apps that can help you unlock your cell phone. It should be noted that these apps are not miraculous, but they work in many cases so you can give them a try. Of course, they are only for Android and you will have to experiment with them by searching for them in the Play Store.

What the unlocking apps do is give you a code, which you have to enter into your phone and hope for the best. If it works, you'll have your phone unlocked. If not, you will have to resort to other alternatives. A good option to unlock your mobile is the app Unlock.iocreated by SDWebs.
