Huawei will lose immediate access to Android OS updates and the next version of its handsets outside China will also lack popular apps and services such as Google Play Store and Gmail.

Details of the specific services were still being discussed internally at Google, owned by Alphabet Inc , the source said. Lawyers are also assessing the impact of the Commerce Department's actions, a spokesman for the Chinese firm said on Friday.

The Asian company will still have access to the version of Android available through open source licenses, available to anyone who wants to use them.

However, Google will stop providing collaboration and technical support to Huawei for its services and Android services, according to the source.

The Donald Trump administration on Thursday officially blacklisted Huawei on a trade blacklist, immediately establishing restrictions that will make it very difficult for the tech giant to do business with U.S. companies.
