Windows 11 is a free upgrade to Windows 10
Microsoft is offering Windows 11 as a free upgrade for all Windows 10 users. In theory, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users will get free upgrades even if they upgrade to Windows. This will be a direct upgrade path from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 11.
Starting this fall, Windows 10 owners will be able to upgrade for free via Windows Update as long as they have genuine Windows.
Windows 11 was released on June 2 as the successor to the Windows 10 desktop operating system. During the event, Microsoft announced that it would release the operating system to the public this fall and that it had won. Anyone can receive updates today, not just in the open store. Instead, as the company said, Windows 11 will roll out first to Windows Insiders next week, so testers will see upgrade notifications before anyone else.
Is Windows 11 a free upgrade?
Yes, according to Microsoft, Windows 11 is a free upgrade.
Microsoft offers a similar Windows 10 method for downloading Windows 11, including downloading updates from various sources. Consumers will be able to download it from Microsoft's Windows Update later this year.
Microsoft is also developing tools to help test compatibility with Windows 11. Microsoft is essentially following its "Windows as a Service" strategy. This means that periodic updates to the operating system are released free of charge. Existing hardware can be upgraded as long as it meets the basic requirements described above.
As you know, some Windows features are not included in the base operating system, so users can get updates faster. Instead of waiting for a full Windows update, Microsoft is updating features such as Windows widgets, Windows Store Paint and native applications such as Notepad.
Windows Search is also web-based, so you can update these features without having to wait for a major upgrade of the entire operating system.
